The Salmo Falcons Junior Boys' Basketball team started the 2021-22 High School season off on fire as the squad captured top spot at the Bomber Invitational Tournament Saturday at the L.V. Rogers Hangar.

The Falcons, finishing the tournament with a 3-0 record, topped the host Bombers 47-28 in the final.

LVR Bombers were substituted into the final after Kootenay River of Creston was unable to attend Saturday's action due to the closure of the Kootenay Pass.

This was the first action for junior basketball teams in the Kootenay since 2019 when the COVID-19 pandemic struck and closed all sports.

In 2020, BC High School Sports halted the play of all sports in the province due to the pandemic.

Salmo opened the tournament Friday with wins over Stanley Humphries of Castlegar and L.V. Rogers Bombers.

Mallard’s Source for sports would like to salute the Falcons as Team of the Week.

The team includes coaches Shelby Anderson, Austin Cowel and Ty Street and players Sawyer Snedden, Rowen Hutton, Leiland Greer, Caleb Spedie, Lucas Brisco, Troy Isaacs, Thomas Gouin, Garrett Huber, Ben Mobbs, Jacob Jones, Taj Davies.
