Kootenay Pride 2019 kicked off the week of celebrations with the raising of the banner over Baker on Monday prior to raising the Pride and Transgender flags in front of City Hall.

Pride events continue through the week before the annual parade Sunday (September 1) beginning at 3 p.m.

Thursday, at Touchstones Museum, is Queer Date Night from 5 -7 p.m.

On the same evening Kootenay Pride honors our past with a Queer Archives Pop Up event at the Nelson Public Library, doors at 6:30 p.m. presentation and games start at 7 p.m.

There’s a Meet and Greet at Finley's Bar and Grill on Friday, plus numerous dance parties including the Spirit Bar on Saturday and live disco on Sunday night at Bloom Nightclub with Alpine Conspiracy's CD release party. Find all event details on the Kootenay Pride Facebook page.

The week rounds out with the annual Pride Parade on Baker Street.

Any organization that would like to participate in the parade should show up at Central School parking lot and be ready for a 3 p.m. sharp departure.

A small group of volunteers come together every year to make these celebrations happen and every year we strive to make events that both celebrate, connect, and educate.

Everyone is welcome.
