There was no consonance in the accident Monday morning when a logging truck overturned on a sharp “S” curve on Highway 6 southeast of Salmo.

Around 8:25 a.m. a northbound logging truck overturned on the highway just north of the Nelway Border Crossing, southeast of Salmo.

The truck had been traveling into the sharp curves when it lost control and plowed through the concrete guard.

“The truck then flipped onto the driver’s side, blocking two thirds of the roadway,” said Cpl. Barry Graham of the Salmo RCMP detachment.

Speed was believed to be a factor in the collision.

Salmo fire department, RCMP and Ministry of Transportation immediately attended to the scene.

“Miraculously, the driver was treated for only minor injuries by BC Ambulance and released at scene,” said Cpl. Graham.

Had there been any other traffic on the road at the time, particularly oncoming vehicles, the accident would have been more serious, said Cpl. Graham.

However, the truck was damaged extensively and likely will be written off.

The incident is still under investigation.
