Logging truck accident slows traffic on Kootenay Pass
The driver of a logging truck was taken to hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries following a single-vehicle accident on the Kootenay Pass Wednesday afternoon.
The accident happened on Highway 3, a few kilometers west of the Kootenay Pass Summit, when the empty logging truck lost control on slushy roads after passing a YRB (Yellowhead Road & Bridge) plow truck.
The truck hit rocks before the trailer flew off the unit and ended up down the steep bank.
The YRB driver blocked the highway to on-coming traffic, then, made his way down the 100-plus foot bank to help the injured driver who had a gash on his head.
RCMP said the accident remains under investigation. The driver was taken by ambulance to Creston Hospital.
