All of the excitement Thursday at the Nelson Airport was High Terrain Helicopters training pilots for Class D operations.

High Terrain Helicopter pilots spent a few hours Thursday morning training in “long line” or “short haul” transportation, making trips to the Flag Pole on Elephant Mountain and back.

With so many back country ski operations, if there is an accident, High Terrain pilots are trained to assist rescue operations at a moment’s notice.

Located in Nelson, High Terrain Helicopters has been operating and assisting Search and Rescue teams since 1992.
