Lives of black bears who 'protected' grow operation hang in balance

There could a mass cull of black bears if conservation officers find the animals aren’t as wild as they should be.

For the 26 black bears who were part of the high profile marijuana grow operation bust last summer in Christina Lake, their lives hang in the balance as they wake up from their winter hibernation, CTV.ca reports.

If conservation officers find they are still reliant on the dog food Allan Wayne Piche  — who pled guilty to one count of feeding dangerous wildlife under the Wildlife Act — fed them for years, they could be destroyed.
