After 10 years of presentations, meetings and demonstrations Nelson’s Outdoor skatepark finally has a site, and they are officially kicking off the fundraising portion of the park project this month.

To mark this momentous occasion Kootenay Lake Outdoor Skate Park Society and Shambhala Music Festival Ltd. hope you’ll come help celebrate with them at the NDYC and Spiritbar on Thursday April 14.

Flying in for both events are Hip Hop originals Abstract Rude, Awol One and 2Mex on their Flow and Tell tour with support from DJ Tramlife and Random Humans.

The NDYC event goes from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and will also feature local openers DJ Shasta and DJ Dubconscious, bowl sessions, and live art instillations by local crew Catch Wreck (Aspekt, Sumo and Audeo).

There will be giveaways from Tribute, Black Russian, Quizno Sub’s and Bibo.  Admission is a $5 minimum donation at the door.

Afterwards the party moves to Spiritbar and will include a raffle featuring two weekend Shambhala 2011 tickets. DJ Rippel, Lokal Motif and Cypha.Nex will be hyping the crowd until Abstract Rude, Awol One and 2Mex headline the night.

Doors open at 10 p.m. with a $10 minimum donation at the door.
