Less Two Weeks Left to Apply For ArtWalk 2019

There is less than two weeks to get your applications in for this year’s ArtWalk. Both artist and venue applications are live on the Nelson and District Arts Council website. Deadline is Friday, April 19th at 5 p.m.

ArtWalk is a wonderful opportunity for emerging and established artists alike to showcase their work to new audiences all in an atmosphere of fun and celebration. ArtWalk is promoted locally and regionally encouraging visitors and locals alike to appreciate the value of art. ArtWalk strives to allow artists to make a living with their work and sales are a major component of the event.
ArtWalk will be celebrating 31 years of local/regional artist promotion and community arts engagement this coming summer and we want everyone to be part of it.
ArtWalk has come to be one of the highlights of the summer.
The streets are packed with customers, tourists, arts lovers alike. Local businesses along the main streets of Nelson present the work of local artists in venues/galleries from June 28th-September 8th. Our first Opening night in June will feature roving performances at numerous venues as well as a chance to chat with the artists.
The second opening will be immersive: encouraging the attendees to create their own art as they roam along the ArtWalk route. The Nelson and District Arts Council will be hosting a closing street dance in collaboration the Nelson Road Kings in order to further stimulate sales and provide a cultural event for those September tourists to attend.
