The Nelson hockey team appreciates the support of the hockey fans in the Heritage City.

Which is why this year’s edition of the Nelson Leafs were quick to present the “Cookie Mother”, Evelyn Cartlidge, with an autographed stick prior to a recent home game.

The stick was for all the hard work to Cartlidge does to help bring a little bit of home to the players.

For the past few years Cartlidge has been baking a box of cookies for the players before home games.

“A lot of these boys are away from home for the first time in their life so I just wanted to make them feel at home with cookies their mothers would make,” Cartlidge said when asks why she goes over and above the call of duty.
