Nelson Police and the Kootenay Lake Hospital Auxiliary are appealing to the public for assistance in recovering the wheelchair that went missing from Kootenay Lake Hospital approximately two weeks ago.

Kootenay Lake Hospital Auxiliary staff estimates the value of the wheelchair at $1200.

The report came into Nelson Police Saturday (August 29) that the newly acquired wheel chair was missing.

Staff believe the wheelchair was possibly taken for a ‘joy ride”, used to take to someone home from the hospital and not returned or was otherwise removed from the facility.

“The selfless and caring folks of the Hospital Auxiliary volunteer countless hours, and work very hard raising money to buy items, such as this wheelchair, which benefit the needs of numerous people in our community,” said Cst. Jay Noppe in a NPD media release.

NPD suggests if anyone had knowledge of this wheelchair to please contact the detachment at 250-354-3919 or simply return the item to directly to Kootenay Lake Hospital.
