The Kootenay Wildcats gained a split during B.C. Female Midget AAA Hockey League play against the Fraser Valley Phantom during the weekend in Langley.

However, it was the way the Cats gained the points that has head coach Mario DiBella breathing a little fire.

During a 7-3 loss Sunday, Kootenay was penalized 55 minutes to only four for the Phantom — 25 of those minutes whistled in the second period.

“It was the worst job of officiating I have ever witnessed, bar none,” DiBella told The Nelson Daily.

Saturday, Kootenay, 5-5, pulled off a 3-2 victory over Fraser Valley.
Simran Sidhu scored twice to lead the Phantom, which enjoyed period leads of 1-0 and 3-0.

Hailey McLean scored twice to lead the Wildcats while Randi Brown added a single. Daley Oddy had two assists for Kootenay.

Fraser Valley put the game away scoring three times in the third in a span of three minutes.

Saturday, Kootenay scored in each of the three periods to edge Fraser Valley.

Christina Bonacci, in the first, Aimee DiBella, in the second and Oddy, in the third, was all the scoring the Cats would need.
McLean tallied two assists for the winners.

Melina Christopherson and Arianna Castillo replied for Fraser Valley.

Brianne Burns registered the win in goal for Kootenay.

Kootenay idle this weekend. Next action is November 20 in Kelowna against the Okanagan Rockets in the first contest of a two-game series.
