Hume Elementary gymnasium was dressed up as a jungle as most of the student population treated the public to the opening performance of Disney’s The Jungle Book Kids Wednesday.

The production is based on the novel, The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling and stars Ally Oliver as Bagheera, Jamaal Radcliffe as Baloo, Mason MacKay as King Louie, Jamie Spencer as Mowgli and Cole Jolly as Shere Khan.

Wednesday was the first of three shows.

Thursday, the performances are at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The show took three months of steady practice to fine tune the actors and stagehands for the trio of shows.

Hats off to the Grade four and five students for their hard work and commitment to musical production and to Lisa Backus, Producer/Drama and Musical director; Emily Newberry, Assistant Director and Danielle Backus Horton, Choreographer.
