Interior Health declares Revelstoke COVID-19 community cluster contained

In a media release Friday, Interior Health said the COVID-19 community cluster in the Revelstoke area has been declared contained.
Interior Health said a total of 50 COVID-19 cases were connected to this cluster.
“This remains a time for caution and vigilance with the overall cases we are seeing in Interior Health, but it is important to recognize Revelstoke residents, businesses, elected officials and health care teams for their collective efforts in reducing local spread and containing this cluster,” said Interior Health president and CEO, Susan Brown.
“We can reduce the risk of exposure in our communities if everyone is doing their part in taking the ongoing measures from our public health leaders and teams.
Interior Health said All cases associated with the cluster have received appropriate follow-up. Contacts of each confirmed case were identified through contact tracing and also received direction from public health.
“Our public health teams remain dedicated to limiting exposures to COVID-19,” said Dr. Goodison, medical health officer. “We were fortunate to keep cases in Revelstoke away from our most vulnerable populations, but COVID-19 continues to have devastating impacts to individuals and families across B.C.
“We know how challenging our current restrictions are. We cannot lose sight that these public health measures are in place to protect us and those we love.”
Friday, Interior Health reported 99 new COVID-19 cases in the region for a 2601.
Interior Health said 758 cases are active on isolation with 20 people in hospital and four in ICU.
The total number of deaths remains at six.
Dr. Bonnie Henry, BC Public Health Officer said in the daily briefing from Victory Friday that there were 737 confirmed cases in the province with 11 more people that have died.
The provincial count shows 342 people in hospital with 87 in intensive care.
As for Revelstoke, Interior Health said a small number of cases in the city are still expected and the end of the cluster does not mean people should let down their guard.
Interior Health said everyone in in all communities should remain vigilant in following COVID-19 precautions and current public health orders:
- Keep to your household bubbles and avoid social gatherings.
- Limit all non-essential travel.
- Stay home when you are sick and get tested if you have any symptoms consistent with COVID
- Practise physical distancing and use a mask if you cannot
- Wash your hands often

Testing is available for people with cold, influenza, or COVID-19-like symptoms, including:
- Fever
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Loss of sense of taste or smell

Update on McKinney long-term care home:
- Today Interior Health can confirm 27 residents and 14 staff members have tested positive for COVID-19 at McKinney long-term care in Oliver for a total of 41 cases associated with this outbreak.
Update on outbreaks:
- Village by the Station Long-term Care Home remains at three cases.
- Mountain View Village Long-term Care Home remains at seven cases.
