Heritage Working Group's Youth Heritage Mural now on display
There’s a new mural jazzing up the 400 Block of Victoria Street next to the Capitol Theatre.
The large mural is part of a project initiated by the Nelson Heritage Working Group and Touchstones Museum.
Local Art Educator Amber Santos said the Heritage Working Group’s Youth Heritage Mural is in partnership with the Nelson Youth Centre Youth Action Network.
The large-scale mural was produced to provoke critical discussion regarding the Canada 150 and Nelson 120 celebrations.
Santos said artists used River Relations exhibit at Touchstones to come up with ideas for the mural.
Artists completed the exhibit last week and is now on full display for the public to view.
The location next to the Capitol Theatre is only temporary.
The group hopes the final resting place is at a school in the area.
