Going tribal and oriental this spring with bellydance

Spring session bellydance classes
March 28 – May 16 (no class April 25) at Slocan Park Hall

Spring is here and so are bellydance classes. This spring Shauna Robertson of Soul Fire Dance is offering two consecutive classes, starting with oriental and followed by tribal.
The oriental class will focus on Egyptian technique, proper movement anatomy and kinetic awareness. The class will explore dancing with veils and learn a fun new choreography full of tantalizing moves and emotive expressions.
The tribal class will have the fun folkloric flair that ranges from fiery flamenco inspired moves to celebratory Raj — asthani spins to mesmerizing sacred mudras. This class also includes rhythm study and learning to play finger cymbals.
Egyptian Oriental Belly Dance
Mondays 6:30-7:45 p.m., Slocan Park Hall
From swaying hips and fluid arms to lifts, drops and shimmies, this class covers a dynamic range of Egyptian style belly dance.
Explore dancing with veils and learn a choreography incorporating fundamental bellydance moves. Join in this fun and exciting class where you will strengthen and explore your body through isolated to undulating movements.
This winter session we will focus on drawing the movements deeply into our bodies and core while fully embracing the feminine essence.
This class is great for beginners and offers layered movements for those more advanced. Come shake, shimmy and roll.
Tribal Style Belly Dance
Mondays 7:45-9 p.m., Slocan Park Hall
This style is influenced by the tribal cultures of the Near East, Middle East, North Africa and Spain.
The class includes rhythm study, playing finger cymbals and American Tribal Style Bellydance.
You will learn fundamentals from slow to fast movements and begin to thread them together through improvisational lead and follow.
In this multi cultural dance experience you discover a whole world of beautiful movement and ethnic expression.
