FLIKS presents

Wasteland

at the Capitol Theatre, Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 7:30 p.m.

The Academy Award nominated Cinderella story is about celebrated Brooklyn artist Vic Munitz’ travels to the largest landfill in the world, Jardim Gramacho, located on the outskirts of Rio de Janerio where he created his next exhibit.

To his surprise, instead of down and outs rummaging through the garbage, he finds inspiring, dedicated recyclers, or ‘catadores,’ who care about their contribution to the planet and take pride in what they do.

As the catadores create art from their recycled materials, they begin to re-imagine their lives.

Extremely uplifting and hopeful, this film is a real testament to the transformative power of art the alchemy of the human spirit.
