Kootenay Columbia College of Integrative Health Sciences in Nelson will celebrate the graduation of its first class of the Registered Massage Therapy Program on May 26 at 2pm at the Nelson Commons. The ceremony is a private ceremony for the RMT graduates as well as for graduates from the school’s Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture and Holistic Nutrition Certificate programs.

KCCIHS launched the first Kootenay-based RMT Diploma Program in January of 2017. With a cohort of eight students — all of whom passed thier exams — and a brand new curriculum, the program forged new relationships between the school and the Nelson community.

As the first class coming out of a brand new program, the students took to the task with compassion and hard work, setting standards both academic and in clinical practice for future RMT students. In March of 2019 they took the CMTBC licensing exam which would determine if they could apply for their BC RMT licenses. KCCIHS’s graduating class all passed their licensing exams with 100% success.  The college wishes to formally congratulate the graduates for their hard-earned accomplishments and thank the Nelson community for supporting and participating in their clinical practicum through the RMT student clinic.

KCCIHS, formerly the Academy of Classical Oriental Sciences, was founded in 1996 and offers diploma programs in Registered Massage Therapy and Traditional Chinese Medicine as well as a Holistic Nutrition Certificate course. KCCIHS’s RMT diploma program is accredited by both the College of Massage Therapists of BC (CMTBC) and the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB).
