Final results in BC Election hopefully released by November 16

Don’t worry about waiting up late Saturday night to see who’s the winner in the 2020 BC Election.
Officials with Elections BC said Friday that Saturday’s final results probably won’t be released until November 16, however that date is not set in stone due to the extra time it will take to tabulate mail-in ballots.
Elections BC said approximately 65-70 per cent of ballots counted Saturday night.
Elections BC said vote-by-mail packages are sent into from each riding to a central location and cannot be counted for at least 13 days following Saturday’s election to allow ballots to be sent back to the specific riding for sorting and screening.
Elections BC hopes the final count will begin on November 6, lasting for three days before a six-day window for judicial recounts that could be request in close races.
Elections BC said as of Friday morning, approximately 478,900 vote-by-mail packages had been returned, representing about 66 per cent of all mail-in packages requested and issued to date.
Elections BC will not be able to confirm whether a person’s ballot was received, but guarantees that any mail-in ballot that was placed in a mailbox by October 17 or dropped off at a polling station by October 24 will be counted.
In Nelson-Creston, four candidates — Tanya Finley of the BC Liberal Party, Nicole Charlwood of the BC Green Party, Terry Theissen, representing the BC Libertarian Party and Brittny Anderson of the BC NDP — are vying to replace former MLA Michelle Mungall.
