Female driver escapes serious injury following single-vehicle accident near South Slocan

A female driver escaped serious injury Tuesday morning when the vehicle she was driving left the road before colliding with a power pole RCMP said in an emailed statement.

The accident, on Highway 3A/6 near Sentinel Road, happened at approximately in the late morning when a Honda make vehicle left the road and hit a telephone pole. The collision shattered the pole, bringing down telephone lines. Sentinel Road approximately one kilometer east of the Highway 3A/6 junction.

Jaws of life were needed to cut off the roof to deal with the injured female occupant. The woman was transported by Emergency Health Services to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Traffic was backed up for some time before the highway was re-opened to single lane traffic. Flaggers remained on scene into the afternoon before crews dealt with the downed lines.
