Felix Kuhn, of Gray Creek has won the latest $1000 monthly prize draw in the Kootenay Lake Angler Incentive Program.

He receives a $500 gift certificate to Gill & Gift in Balfour and a $500 gift certificate to Crawford Bay Market in Crawford Bay.

“I am super stoked to have won the November draw,” Kuhn said.

“It’s exciting to win such great prizes, and also rewarding to know that I’m helping to regulate the fish population of Kootenay Lake.”

Kuhn lives near the shores of the Kootenay Lake, so he understands and appreciates the importance of the ecosystem.

“I caught the first fish of my life on Kootenay Lake in 2014, when I first arrived in Canada from Germany,” Kuhn explained.

” To date, that is the biggest one I have caught. I hope that with the help of the Kootenay Lake Angler Incentive Program, and the fishermen involved in the program, we can bring back bigger fish. I love to be out on the lake and if I’m not busy catching fish, I am just soaking up the beauty of this special place.”

The Kootenay Lake Angler Incentive Program inspires anglers to get out fishing and enjoy the outdoors. Anglers are encouraged to harvest rainbow and bull trout in the main body of Kootenay Lake and then turn in the heads to local depots to enter a monthly draw for a prize worth $1,000.

Kootenay Lake Angler Incentive Program is managed by the local West Arm Outdoors Club with support from B.C. Wildlife Federation, Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC, Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation, Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development (FLNORD), and several local merchants from around Kootenay Lake.

For the latest update from Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development (FLNORD), please see the attached Kootenay Lake Kokanee Recovery Update, December 2021. The Ministry urges anglers to continue to participate in this program and harvest all of their catch within daily quota limits to reinforce improved juvenile kokanee survival and continue to support low in-lake survival for the youngest kokanee.
