A GoFundMe page has been set up to help a local Kootenay Lake School District teacher involved in a car accident Friday on Highway 3A, near Grohman Narrows Provincial Park.

Cam Lytle, a teacher at Trafalgar Middle School, was in a vehicle that collided with another at approximately 4:50 p.m. Friday afternoon.

The accident, which forced the detour of traffic to Granite Road, closed the highway for hours as emergency response teams, Police, Fire and Ambulance, dealt with the injuries.

Lytle was taken to local hospital before being air-ambulanced to Kelowna Regional Hospital where he continues to recover.

A GoFundMe page was created by a friend to help Nicola Lytle and family deal with expenses.

“We’re trying to raise housing cost help for Nicola and the boys as they look like they may have a long stay away from Nelson,” the GoFundMe page said. “Thank you for your love and attention.”

The GoFundMe page was created Sunday and has already exceeded the goal of $5,000 as more than 120 people have donated to the current total of $10,390.
