Evacuation order rescinded for Slocan River drainage region

The Regional District of Central Kootenay decided to rescind an evacuation order for the Slocan River drainage region early Monday morning, but continues to have the area place on an evacuation alert.

Early Monday morning, the RDCK issued a media release that the evacuation order for the Slocan River drainage region in electoral Area ‘H’ and ‘I’ and the Village of Slocan has been rescinded based on observed river levels.

The RDCK had placed the area on an evacuation order at 11 p.m. Sunday night, based on observed river levels.

The RDCK said homes that were part of the evacuation order for the Slocan River are not required to evacuate at this time.

This includes Slocan River drainage, South of the Village of Slocan including some residents within:

  • The Village of Slocan
  • Lemon Creek
  • Perry’s
  • Appledale
  • Winlaw
  • Lebahdo
  • Vallican
  • Passmore
  • Slocan Park
  • Crescent Valley
  • Shoreacres

The RDCK advises residents to stay away from riverbanks and fast-flowing water.
