Columbia Power Corporation (Columbia Power) supported Selkirk College graduates by providing summer employment opportunities at their Castlegar office.
Josh Verigin, graduate of the Business Administration, Professional Management Diploma Program, and Daniel Chaboya, graduate of the Advanced Diploma of Geographic Information Systems Program, worked with Columbia Power to assist with a variety of projects.
“Providing employment opportunities for Selkirk College graduates is an excellent opportunity for Columbia Power and provides practical experience for students to build on their education.” said Audrey Repin, Director of Stakeholder Relations and Communications.
“We wish both Josh and Daniel all the best in their future endeavours and would like to thank them for their contributions to the organization.”
Josh Verigin assisted the Stakeholder Relations and Communications department with various tasks including the coordination of the Waneta Expansion Project public viewing area celebration and the development of a Content Management System for the Columbia Power website.
Daniel Chaboya assisted the Environment and Operations department in the development of a referencing guide for the White Sturgeon. The White Sturgeon reference guide will include a compilation of maps that will assist staff in understanding spatio-temporal movements of the White Sturgeon.
This September Josh will be working to complete his Business Degree at Okanagan College in Kelowna. Daniel will be moving to Radium to work as a Co-operative Education student with Parks Canada as an Assistant Geomatics Technician.
