It’s cold out there and Nelson CARES wants to help warm things up for people who need it most.

Nelson CARES is hosting the fifth annual Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser on Saturday, February 23rd, in and around the streets of Nelson.

This year proceeds will be going toward the Nelson CARES ‘Ready for Home’ program. This program assists Nelson CARES tenants coming out of homelessness with life skills; connection to health, employment and income support anything that will help these residents stay in the affordable housing units and off the streets.

Coldest Night of the Year is a national event that sees people all across the country head out onto the street in late February to show their support the homeless, hungry and hurting.

Coldest Night of the Year has been getting some amazing support from the local businesses, including lead sponsor Valhalla Pure Outfitters. Sponsorship revenue allows Nelson CARES to increase their fundraising totals while at the same time promoting local businesses.

There are a few sponsor packages remaining. Please contact organizers for details.

There are other great ways businesses are supporting the event, including the Kootenay Co-op Country Store paying the registration fee for any of their staff wanting to join their team. This allows the staff to join the team with no investment and just focus on fundraising.

Coldest Night of the Year team will be out at tables all around town including all the Nelson Leaf’s home games (except February 23rd, because that is our event), Save On Foods and the BC Liquor Store.

Nelson CARES would like to invite everyone to join us for this fun family friendly event and are looking for volunteers, team captains, walkers and donors.
