Coldest Night of the Year closing in on $100k

Two weeks ago, over 300 individuals on 59 teams signed up to walk to raise funds to support the community.
And raise funds they certainly did.
Nelson CARES Society Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers are very grateful for the enormous community support for the Coldest Night of the Year fundraising event that took place on Saturday, Feb 25th.
A record-breaking $97,038 has been raised so far with donations accepted until the end of March.
The funds raised by the teams, individuals, and sponsors stay in the community to fund the Ready for Home Program operating out of Ward Street Place.
The Ready for Home program supports those residents to navigate healthcare, government documents, and many other challenges that allow them to remain safely housed.
“If donating to a Coldest Night of the Year team or walker was something you meant to do, now is your chance to get us to this momentous goal. The $100,000 goal is painfully close. Head to cnoy.org/nelson,” says Stephanie Myers, Fund Coordinator for Nelson CARES Society.
Nelson CARES Society wishes to thank everyone involved in making the event such an overwhelming success, including their 2023 Lead Sponsors: Nelson Home Building (also for the stage truck), BC Housing, Urban Legends, and Buddy’s Place.
Substantial Supporting Sponsors are Kootenay Co-op, Columbia Basin Trust, Urban Systems, and CitySpaces Consulting Ltd. The Kootenay Co-op and Selkirk College donated the ingredients for the chili dinner.
