City of Nelson announces councillor by-election for March 27th

City of Nelson recently announced Saturday, March 27th as the by-election date to fill the seat recently vacated by former councillor Brittny Anderson.

Anderson, who won Nelson-Creston MLA riding for the NDP during the October provincial election, resigned the council seat in December 2020 and will now represent the riding in the BC Legislature.

During the January 12th council meeting, Sarah Winton and Gabriel Bouvet-Boisclair  were appointed the Chief Election Officer and Deputy Chief Election Officer, respectively.

The City of Nelson website said interested candidates must submit a Candidate Nomination Package between February 9, 2021, and 4 p.m. on February 19, 2021 in order to be included as a candidate for the City of Nelson 2021 by-election. 

The website said forms along with other important information are available for download at the bottom of this page, via email request to elections@nelson.ca or by picking up a package from City Hall.

Election candidates should note that in light of the Provincial Health Order, downloading a package or requesting one by email is preferred.
