Carlos Del Junco caps off solid week at The Royal

This week and beyond at The Royal on Baker Street …

Electric Wednesdays with Estevan and Tracy Lynn

Wednesday, doors at 8:30 pm

Come listen to some great local music or take the stage yourself.

The Idlers with Take With Audio

Thursday; Tickets: $7 advance / $10 door; Showtime 9 pm

The Idlers, Newfoundland's traveling reggae circus is making a stop at the Royal.

From their seaside hometown of St. John’s, Idlers have been loading and unloading the great green pickle-van to bring their foot moving skank and polit-reggae-ska-rock to cities and towns from coast to coast and everywhere in between.

With anything from a seven-piece onslaught of sound to a squat and groovy 11, Idlers conscious sound has earned the group fantastic reviews for their 2007 release Corner and their latest release, Keep Out

Manitoba's alternative, bluesy, rocky Take With Audio will start the night off.

Tickets are available online at www.liveattheroyal.com

DJ Mark Instinct with Deeps

Friday, $10 before 11 pm/$15 after, Showtime 9 pm

This is the next installment in the hit series Dubstep Killaz and it is unleashing at the Royal.

Extra PK Bass, lights, and visuals will be brought in.  Tickets available at the door.

Martyn Joseph

Saturday, $10 advance/$15 door, Showtime 9:30 pm

The Royal and Kootenay Co-op Radio are proud to present a performer like no other, singer songwriter, Martyn Joseph.

Shades of Springsteen, Knopfler and Dave Matthews there may be — but he stands in his own right, built on a reputation for giving what thousands have described as the best live music experience of their lives.

One of acoustic music's most arresting artists, the Welsh singer songwriter has been in demand on both sides of the Atlantic for over two decades.

Always charming, sometimes alarming, Martyn Joseph is a unique songwriter who digs deep and delivers an ultimate, life affirming message.

He is one of the most unusual and compelling performers you are likely to encounter. Tickets are available at Royal Espresso and www.liveattheroyal.com.

Carlos Del Junco

Sunday, $15 advance/$20 door, Showtime 8 pm

Legendary Blues Promotions, Kootenay Co-op Radio and the Royal are proud to present Carlos Del Junco.

To say he plays the harmonica is like saying "Jimi Hendrix plays guitar." He blows the blues harp through a prism — suddenly it seems he's holding every color in the musical rainbow right there in his hands.

Simultaneously sophisticated and raw, his playing blurs the boundaries between blues and jazz (hence the name for his band “The Blues Mongrels”).

The emphasis is on blues, but Carlos and his band are not afraid to merrily traipse off in other directions delivering a seamless fusion of New Orleans second line grooves, swing, Latin, hip-hop or ska melodies, to swampy roots rock.

This will be the first night of the inaugural Legendary Blues Series at The Royal. You can buy a ticket package for $45 that includes a ticket to Carlos Del Junco, Colin Linden & David Vest.

Advance tickets available at Royal Espresso, Eddy Music, Urban Legends, Kootenay Co-op Radio and www.liveattheroyal.com.
