Capitol Theatre's Stephanie Fischer earns BC Touring Council award

Executive Director, Stephanie Fischer, has been awarded the 2019 Presenter of the Year Award by the BC Touring Council the Board of Directors the Capitol Theatre Board announced in a media release.

The Presenter of The Year demonstrates a commitment to artistic and managerial excellence, demonstrates community involvement, the highest degree of professionalism in presenting and contributes to the awareness and development of the arts.

“We are so proud of our Executive Director Stephanie Fischer for being the recipient of this award by the BC Touring Council at the Pacific Contact Conference in April,” Pat Henman, Chair of Capitol Theatre’s Board of Directors said in the media release.

“Our pride extends to all those at the Capitol Theatre, because this shows that along with Stephanie, being recognized for commitment to artistic and managerial excellence extends to Eva McKimm, Assistant Manager, and to our technical crew, including Terry Brennan and Olivia Bogaard, Kyla Hurst, Camille Leblanc, Ian Wood and to all our wonderful volunteers who ensure the renters, touring artists and patrons are treated with professionalism.”

Since taking over the reins of the Capitol Theatre seven years ago, Fischer’s hard work, dedication and passion has the 32-year-old institution thriving with increased audience attendance, patronage, season package memberships, and a broad spectrum of live theatre events in all genres.

Every year, backed by wonderful staff, crew, and volunteers, Fischer arranges the presentation of a new selection of professional touring artists spanning a range of artistic genres and acts as a producer for several Capital Theatre productions.

The Capitol Theatre features the best in live theatre, classical ballet and contemporary dance theatre, classical and contemporary music, comedy and a variety of other performances. The highly successful Capitol Series showcases up to 24 performances annually for all ages, including post show discussions and community outreach programming.

The Capitol Theatre Summer Youth Program is starting up right now with auditions and the Footlights Academy is fearing up for a June workshop for 8 to 12-year-olds.
