Bombers sweep past Grand Forks Wolves

Bomber teams swept to a couple of victories Wednesday at the L.V. Rogers Hangar.

The Senior Bombers gained some revenge on the short-handed Grand Forks Wolves, outlasting the Boundary City squad 77-61 in Senior Boys High School Basketball action at the Hangar.

LVR opened the contest on fire, building a 12-2 lead against a Wolves squad missing key players due to school exams and sickness.

LVR continued to control the game, leading 34-20 at halftime,

However, the Wolves battle back in the second half, using stellar three-point shooting to pull to 52-51.

LVR regained the momentum with a 9-1 run to secure the win over the Wolves and snap a long losing streak.

Michael Poitras led the Bombers with 26 points, including three quick baskets from behind the arc in the third quarter.

Center Cole Woodward added 17 points, including three slam dunks to rev up teammates and the home crowd.

Link scored 31 points, including nine three-point shots, to pace the Wolves attack.

Junior Bombers continue winning ways, thump Wolves at the Hangar

The LVR Junior Bombers made easy work of Grand Forks, bouncing the Wolves 69-37 in Junior Boys Basketball action.

The win was the second in less than five days for the Bombers over the Wolves.

LVR defeated Grand Forks in the final Saturday of the Junior Wolves Tournament in the Boundary City.

Wednesday, the Junior Bombers continued their stellar play, building a 31-11 lead by halftime.

LVR outscored the Wolves 19-5 in the second quarter.

Arnow Ferres and Gael Artega led the Bombers in scoring with 18 and 17 points, respectively.

Levi Konkin added 15 points for LVR.

The Junior Bombers travel to Kelowna this weekend for a tournament in the Central Okanagan.

The Bombers are building towards the Kootenay Junior Boys Playoff next month in Cranbrook against the winner of the Mount Baker/Fernie East Kootenay playoff.

The Kootenay Champion represents the zone at the BC High School Junior Boys Tournament February 25-28 at the Langley Events Centre.
