The Vernon Panthers shot 36 percent from the field to defeat the L.V. Rogers Bombers 65-40 in consolation round action at the BC High School AAA Boy's Basketball Tournament Thursday at the Events Centre in Langley.
Ben Hladik scored a game high 18 points in a contest the Panthers took control early, building a 22-10 lead after one quarter.
The Bombers played Vernon close through the next 20 minutes of play but the Panthers put the game away by outscoring LVR 22-10 in the final period.
Josh Matosevic scored 11 points to lead the Bomber attack with Robbie Dixon and Darian Johnson each adding eight points.
Vinnie Watson had six points and Eamon Studer five.
LVR shot 23 percent from the field and struggled from the three-point line, finishing the game with a six percent average.
The Bombers now meet Mark Isfeld of Courtney Friday at 6:45 p.m.
LVR lost the opener of the tournament 68-36 to top-ranked Sir Charles Tupper Tigers of Vancouver.
