The  L.V. Rogers Bombers travel to the Crowe in Trail Wednesday for the opening game of the West Kootenay Junior Girl’s Basketball Championship tournament.

First up for the Junior Bombers are the Rockers from Stanley Humphries in Castlegar. The Bombers have had great success against the Rockers this season.
A win and LVR meets Rossland Royals Thursday, once again at J. Lloyd Crowe.

Should LVR get past the Royals and the squad would play for the West Kootenay Championship.

The tournament was originally scheduled for the weekend but was moved up due to the inability of the local West Kootenay Basketball Officials Association to provide referees.

Other teams attending include host J.Lloyd Crowe and Grand Forks.

LVR warmed up for the tournament by finishing fifth at the Selkirk Storm Junior Girl’s Basketball Tournament Saturday in Kimberley.

LVR defeated David Thompson of Invermere before losing to host Selkirk and Grand Forks Wolves.

Players of the game were Kyley Mirva, Sabine Stroich and Sydney Zondervan

LVR rallied to steal consolation title

The L.V. Rogers Junior Bombers held off a late charge to edge Bev Facey 75-74 in the consolation final Saturday at the Harry Ainlay Tri-Provincial Tournament in Edmonton.

LVR advanced to the final by stopping Spruce Grove 65-53.

The Bombers, looking to make a return trip to the B.C. High School Junior Boy’s Basketball Tournament, opened with a tough 73-65 loss to Jasper Place of Edmonton.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of LVR’s Provincial Junior Boy’s Champion.

The Bombers, led by NCAA Division One Men’s player at Santa Clara, Sean  Denison, defeated New Westminster in the final to finish the season not only with a provincial title but an incredible 38-0 record.
