The L.V. Rogers Bombers are heading back to the B.C. High School Girl’s AA Soccer Championships.

After missing out on the Big Show last season, the Bombers made it look easy as the Heritage City school breezed to the Kootenay High School AA Girl’s Zone Championships with an 8-0 romp over David Thompson Lakers of Invermere Saturday afternoon in Creston.

Taylor Harrison scored three times to power LVR to the victory as the winners swept through the zone tournament undefeated. Semegn Atkinson, Michaela Anderson, Addis Atkinson, Abby Jakson and Teigan Barnhart also scored for LVR.

Substitute keeper Amanda Creak registered the shutout in goal for the Bombers.

LVR opened the tournament with a 10-2 victory over defending champion J. Lloyd Crowe of Trail. The Bombers then topped Number one seed Stanley Humphries 5-2 before edging David Thompson 4-3 Friday to advance to the final.

Rylee Zondervan, with a pair, Cayenne Caney and Barmhart scored for the Bombers against the Lakers during Friday’s contest.

LVR, coached by Heath Lockhurst and Darren Peloso, now advances to represent the Kootenay Zone at the BC High School Girl’s AA Soccer Championships in Campbell River, May 30 to June 1.

In 2018, J. Lloyd Crowe placed 15th overall in the 16-team tournament.

LVR tuned up for the Zones with a fourth-place finish at a tournament in Kelowna.
