The Bollywood Bellydance Love Tour

@ The Capitol Theatre, Friday, April 29, 7:30 p.m.

Nelson’s leading bellydancers are hosting the Get Bent Bollywood Bellydance Love Tour 2011 by the Get Bent dancers from Penticton, on their fourth annual tour.

The double feature will also present a variety of Nelson area dancers, including Baladi Moon Dancers and Jennifer Mendizabel showing off their beautiful style and choreography.

This event is a fundraiser for the Get Bent Active Arts Society. Their mission is to encourage artistic and cultural development, along with actively promoting the exposure of smaller communities to high calibre performances in the arts, such as dance.

As well, they help sponsor young people to take programs that provide value-based activities, which promote fitness, coordination, healthy self esteem and body image, and respect.

After seven months of rehearsing for this annual event, the Penticton-based Get Bent performers will tour BC showcasing their signature style.

Bollywood bellydancing is a high energy, vibrant, and modern style that blends bellydance with the upbeat dance moves, popular music, and the colourful costumes of India’s Bollywood movies.

The performance on Friday, April 29 will feature a variety of bellydance styles. The Nelson audience will be treated to a showcase of world music and culture by Canada’s most exciting Bollywood Bellydance choreographers, Wendy Williams of Penticton.

Tickets: All seats are $16.
