The talented drama group of Selkirk College’s Contemporary Music and Technology program is returning to the area for its fifth production featuring the songs of Broadway.

Always a hit with audiences, “Broadway Bound 5” includes the very best of Broadway, with songs from Chorus Line, Grease, Lord of the Rings, Rent, Chicago and more. The evening will also feature Cheryl Hodge (director) on keys.

The drama group is the brainchild of artistic director and head of the vocal dept. at Selkirk College, Cheryl Hodge.

“The connection between Broadway songs and singing students has always been a close relationship,” explains Hodge. “It represents the marriage of classical vocal technique to drama.”

This is the fifth year of production for the Broadway Bound series (hence the name “Broadway Bound 5”). The group consists entirely of Selkirk Contemporary Music and Technology students who are presently in the program.

“We’ve got a talented group of singers this year,” says Selkirk College voice instructor Cheryl Hodge. “Spectators can expect a little dancing, singing and perhaps even some audience participation.”

The show will be presented at the L.V. Rogers Secondary School theatre in Nelson on Jan. 28-29. It starts at 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 7 p.m.) and admission is by donation.
