All youth with a dream of starting your own business, the Youth Mean Business program could be for you.

This entrepreneurship program, offered by Kootenay Career Development and Community Futures Central Kootenay, provides paid training to youth ages 15 to 29 while teaching skills needed to start or acquire a small business.

The eight-week program will include online group instruction and one-on-one mentorship. Participants don’t need previous business experience – but they do need a product or service to base the business on. Those who successfully launch a business after the program will receive a $1,000 launch bonus.

The first Youth Mean Business cohort is scheduled to begin July 5. To be eligible for the program, youth must be unemployed or under-employed, and live in the Kootenay Boundary region.

More information about the program is available at kcds.ca or by emailing ymb@kcds.ca.
