Two Nelson Air Cadets — Brandon Brook and Nattanon McIntosh — were recently promoted to Warrant Officer Second Class.

The rank of Warrant Officer is the second highest rank that a cadet can earn.

At the same time, Warrant Officer Nattanon McIntosh was awarded the bar to their cadet long service medal which recognizes five years with the cadet program.

This year marks 70 years of air cadets in Nelson.

As part of the 70th anniversary, the squadron is hoping to get in contact with former members of the squadron. If anyone was a previous member of 561 as either a cadet, adult staff, or a member of the Sponsoring Committee, please contact us at 561air@cadets.gc.ca.

The Sponsoring Committee is interested in past information from the 561 and and pictures of members during their time with 561.

The squadron always welcome new cadets who are between the ages of 12 and 18. Future cadets can start their application at https://registration.cadets.gc.ca/get-started.html?unitId=175

The squadron meets every Wednesday evening at the Nelson Eagles Hall, 641 Baker St, from 6:15 pm to 9 pm and does activities on selected weekends throughout the year.

Adults who would like to volunteer with the squadron are also welcome.
