Nelson and District Arts Council’s ArtWalk celebrated its 31st year of local/regional artist promotion and community arts engagement this summer.

As the summer winds down we want to remind you that there are only a few days left to enjoy the art that is on display. ArtWalk will be wrapping up with a Family Friendly Street Dance on Friday, September 6th at Hall Street Plaza in partnership with the Nelson Road Kings.

The Plaza will be rockin’ from 7-10 p.m. with the sounds of Ruckus as well as a live dj set by DJ MP. The venues might not be open during this time as the owners and managers will be joining us on the dance floor to celebrate another successful ArtWalk, so please get out and enjoy the art before then. .

ArtWalk is a wonderful opportunity for emerging and established artists alike to showcase their work to new audiences all in an atmosphere of fun and celebration. ArtWalk is promoted locally and regionally encouraging visitors and locals alike to appreciate the value of art. ArtWalk strives to allow artists to make a living with their work and sales are a major component of the event.

Don’t delay, grab a brochure and hit the streets today and see all that your local arts scene has to offer. Brochures are available at the Visitor’s Centre (91 Baker Street) and Touchstones Nelson Museum of Art and History (502 Vernon Street). Head to thendac.cawebsite and look under Exhibits and Events for the map and brochure there as well. Grab a Nelson International Mural Festival brochure at the same time and see the new public art in the alleys. Look for ArtWalk Nelson on fb and artwalknelson on Instagram.

These events are generously supported with funding and inkind contributions from the City of Nelson, BC Arts Council, the Columbia Basin Trust, the Province of British Columbia, Hall Printing and Nelson and Kootenay Lake Tourism.
