The TELUS crew dropped into Nelson Friday afternoon to present the Nelson Food Cupboard with a donation of 500 pounds of food.

All of the food was collected by TELUS team members, TELUS Ambassadors, TELUS Retirees and friends/family between May 1-24.

The goal was to collect 25 pounds locally and TELUS was genuinely humbled by the response and there is already discussions about exceeding 500lbs in 2014.

The event is the eighth annual TELUS Day of Giving. Teams will volunteer at local activities of their choice to make positive, heartfelt and lasting connections within the community on this one very special day.

Since its inception in 2006, TELUS Day of Giving has mobilized more than 65,000 Canadian team members, retirees, family and friends to volunteer at 1,650 activities benefiting the communities where we live, work and serve.

That adds up to 192,545 hours of painting, gardening, planting trees, landscaping, cooking, serving lunch, sorting cans of food and sewing, just to name a few.
