Strategic intelligence analyst Avi Melamed to speak at Best Western Plus Baker Street Inn

The Kootenay Jewish Association is offering free to the public an opportunity to hear independent strategic intelligence analyst Avi Melamed Sunday, November 4, at the Best Western Plus Baker Street Inn.

Titled, The Middle East in 2012: Winds of Change and Quicksand, the Arab Awakening, Israel and the Region, Melamed lectures, tours and articles offer a behind the scenes, first-hand, insider’s view of the constantly-changing Middle East landscape and future regional implications.

Melamedis also the founder of feenjan.comIsrael Speaks Arabic, a non-profit initiative using the internet to present Israel in Arabic language and dedicated to opening a dialogue with the Arab world.

He has held government, counter-terrorist intelligence and policy making positions.

Building on his expertise and decades of field experience, policy design and intimate connections throughout the Arab world, he founded Yanshuf, providing his clients and audiences the crucial missing link in the puzzle of their knowledge thus enhancing their understanding of this complex region.

Melamedholds a B.A. in history and Middle Eastern studies from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and is a graduate of the International Program for Conflict Resolution at George Mason University, a graduate of the Program for Outstanding Leadership at Carmel Institute for Military Research and a graduate of the program for Jewish lay leadership.

The evening, also sponsored by the Jewish Federations of Canada, begins at 7:30 p.m.
