Renowned guitarist Emma Rush to perform in Nelson

The internationally recognized classical guitarist Emma Rush will be performing in Nelson on April 23 at the Nelson United Church.
Rush has performed world-wide with appearances at the Shanghai Guitar Festival, the Iserlohn Guitar Symposium in Germany, and Festival de Guitarras Lagos de Moreno in Mexico in her roster of prestigious performances.
The Halifax-based guitarist has released three solo albums and her 2020 release Wake the Sigh features music by long-lost female composers of the 19th century discovered by Rush during a residency in Lübeck, Germany.
Her Nelson concert will showcase some of this music, Annette Kruisbrink’s flamenco-inspired Hommage a Paco de Lucia, the fingerstyle suite Appalachian Colours dedicated to Rush by Canadian composer William Beauvais, and José Luis Merlin’s dazzling Suite del Recuerdo.
