Summer is always a great time for a cruise in the old sedan, eh, compact.

On Thursday, August 23 Nelsonites may want to skip the barbecue and head down to the local A&W Restaurant — located at 512 Railway Street —  for the A&W Cruisin’ for a Cause fundraiser.

A&W’s across Canada will be donating $1 for every Teen Burger sold to the MS (Multiple Sclerosis) Society of Canada.

Multiple sclerosis is a complex disease.

While it is most often diagnosed in young adults, aged 15 to 40, MS affects children, some as young as two years old. MS is unpredictable, affecting vision, hearing, memory, balance and mobility.

There is no cure.

The goal on Cruisin’ for a Cause Day is to raise the most funds we can to help End MS in Canada and worldwide.

In 2011, Cruisin’ for a Cause raised over a million dollars for the MS Society of Canada, making it the largest single fundraising event in support of ending MS in Canada.

Since 2009, A&W Cruisin’ for a Cause has raised more than $2 million to help fund groundbreaking research and provide vital services across the country for the 55,000 – 75,000 Canadians living with multiple sclerosis.

The public can also participate in other ways, including:
