Nelson to host Sarah Beckett Memorial Run

Nelson is joining in on the provincially-coordinated Sarah Beckett Memorial Run.

The five-kilometer family event, set for 10 a.m. Saturday, April 13th on the Nelson waterfront starting at Lakeside Park, is being held in memory of Cst. Sarah Beckett, who died tragically in the line of duty after her marked police vehicle was struck by a pickup in the early hours of on April 5, 2016 in Langford, BC.

Money raised from the Sarah Beckett Memorial Run will be donated to the Capital Regional District Traffic Safety Commission, which had created the Cst. Sarah Beckett Memorial Scholarship.

The 2018 winner of the $2,000 scholarship was Nathanial Blondeau. Blondeau received the scholarship for demonstrating academic achievement, financial need, community service record while expressing interest in pursuing a career in law enforcement.
