Meet the puppets at Capitol Theatre

The Capitol Season has two shows in one day from Worlds of Puppets this Sunday, March 10th.
At 4 p.m. Icelandic award-winning puppeteer Bernd Ogrodnik brings his enchanting version of Peter and the Wolf to The Capitol Theatre as part of the Family Series.
Peter lives at his grandfather’s home in a forest clearing. One day, Peter goes out leaving the garden gate open, and his grandfather scolds him for being outside in the meadow in case a wolf came out of the forest. Peter says that he is not afraid of wolves and plans to prove this to his grandfather.
The production stays true to the original story, with each character represented by a musical instrument in the “symphonic fairy tale for music”; the music leads the show in this performance, in an orchestral piece that was created by Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev in 1936 to help young people get to know the instruments in a symphony orchestra. After the show, children will be invited onto the stage to meet the puppets up close.
Then at 7:30 p.m., the Capitol Season presents “Metamorphosis,” a collection of moving, hilarious and imaginative stories emphasized through the surrealistic quality of seeing these stories told through hand-carved wooden puppets. The evening show tackles adult themes and is only suitable for people ages 19 and over.
The characters in both the afternoon and evening shows are all portrayed by an amazing cast of intricate marionettes carved of wood, as well as other styles of puppets.
