Macdonald, Pears-Smith roll into Kootenay Best Singer Finals

Gabriel Macdonald and Charlie Pears-Smith won the right to represent Nelson at the Kootenay Best Singer contest June 1 in Cranbrook following semi final Thursday at the Capitol Theatre.
Macdonald and Pears-Smith finishing one, two, respectively, during the Nelson Best Singer Semi Finals at the Capitol and now advance to the Kootenay Finals.
Emma Chart finished third and Tyler Isaacs Dejong fourth during the Sweet 16 sing-off.
The remaining 16 included Alexandra Schlosser, Courtney Craig, Juniper, Kirsten Douglas, Christina Killough, Annabelle Sullivan, Geordi Baah, Sarah Jane-Hicks, Katrina Garbula, Larry Ivanisko, and Brynn Forsey.
The top 16 qualified for the semi finals after succesful showings during the preliminary round in December held at the L.V. Rogers Hangar.
Each singer performsedin front of the judges with the top four qualifying for the next round to sing another song.
