Kootenay Lake Hospital is home to a thriving Operating Room, which is used over 2,000 hours per year for orthopedic surgeries, cataract surgery, obstetrical and gynecologic surgeries, and general surgeries such as hernia repairs and colonoscopies.

Interior Health recognizes the excellent surgical services at Kootenay Lake Hospital, and has increased funding to enable a nearly 50% increase in colonoscopies performed at KLH this year. With increased procedures comes the need for new, state of the art equipment.  Our goal this spring is to purchase a new Colonoscope for our hospital.  The technological upgrades in the new Colonoscope provide enhanced imaging and maneuverability, which are important factors in determining abnormalities in the colon.

Colonoscopy is used to detect illness affecting the colon, including colon cancer, which affects 1 in 6 people in British Columbia.  Early detection and diagnosis is critical in successful treatment and management of this disease.

Help us enhance surgical services at Kootenay Lake Hospital with this life saving equipment.
