The Shimmy Mob is back.

The talented Kootenay Bellydancers is bring the flash mob to the streets of Nelson Saturday, May 11 at the the Eco Society’s Baker Street Garden Market.

The show at the Garden Market is at 11 a.m.

The mob then moves to the Kootenay Street Junction at 1 p.m.

Shimmy Mob is an international “Flash Mob” type event raising awareness and funds for Women’s and Children’s shelters.  The group dances united with the same song, same choreography, same t-shirt, same goals, on the same day around the world.

Here, in the Kootenays, there are shelter locations to help support women and their children who flee abusive situations.

Organizations aim to give women the opportunity to stay in their community or to have safe haven in a neighbouring community.  Shimmy Mob is  supporting the three organizations who assist women and children in our area:  NCSC in Nelson, CDCSS in Castlegar and Trail Fair Society.

Last year’s Shimmy Mob event was a great success and we look forward to community donations to help make substantial contributions once again!
