The Osprey Community Foundation is opening the doors on the exciting “Age-Friendly Community” project Thursday (June 20) at the Prestige Lakeside Resort.

The evening begins at 7 p.m.

The “Age-Friendly Community” project is designed to make life a little easier for local seniors.

This model of community collaboration, which is being coordinated by Nelson CARES, has brought together representatives from key organizations in our area who have been working to identify the needs of our growing population of seniors, and to find ‘made-in-Nelson’ solutions we can implement.

Nelson CARES is ready to report back to the community on what they’ve learned, and what new initiative(s) will be launched to strengthen our local capacity to help seniors.

This three-year, $270,000 project, funded by Osprey with support from Columbia Basin Trust, moves us towards a community-driven, long-term, sustainable strategy that will allow local seniors to age with dignity and joy, and participate in community life.

The Osprey Community Foundation’s Annual General Meeting follows the presentation.
