ArtWalk 2023 applications for artists, venues now open

ArtWalk 2023 applications for artists and venues will be open from Monday, March 6th until Monday, April 17th at 5 p.m.
The Nelson & District Arts Council (NDAC) is hoping to make the 35th annual ArtWalk a smashing success.
The year of 2022 was the first year back after a two-year hiatus from the in-person event and the response from the community was overwhelming. With over 60 artists participating at 27 venues around town it was ArtWalk on steroids.
This year again NDAC is asking business owners to consider becoming an ArtWalk venue to support the local arts community as well as beautify their walls.
The event populates unique venues with quality, locally produced artwork chosen by the venue operator to fit their walls and business branding.
After the two opening nights (Saturday, June 24th and Saturday, Aug 5th), art will be available to view at the participating venues during their regular hours until Sunday, September 10th. ArtWalk will showcase participating artists at their venues alongside a collection of street performances and other delights throughout Nelson’s downtown core on the opening nights from 6 – 9 p.m.
A new set of artists will have their work on display at each opening.
Professional and emerging artists alike are encouraged to apply for ArtWalk; not all applicants will be selected but priority will be given to artists showing recent work not previously exhibited at ArtWalk or other Nelson venues.
To support our community’s economic recovery from the pandemic, NDAC will continue to waive participation fees for artists and venues for the 2023 edition.
