The Nelson & District Arts Council (NDAC) is overwhelmed with gratitude at the response to the 34th annual ArtWalk.

ArtWalk 2022 has had more artists and more venues than ever before. This was the first year back to fully in-person ArtWalk events and we came back with a bang. Seeing the streets filled with art lovers, stilt walkers and puppets on the opening nights felt amazing after two years in the virtual world.

There is still time to view and purchase the art on the walls; the final day of ArtWalk 2022 is Sunday, Sept 4th.

NDAC encourages everyone to get out and check out all the marvellous local talent. One of the venues, the Nelson CARES Society head office at 205 Hall St. will be keeping their art up until Thursday, Sept 29th with another open house with the artist on Saturday, Sept 17th from 6-8 p.m.

The art on display is created by The Hub Luv Collective and Lise Beaulieu. If you didn’t get a chance to check out this partnership with Nelson CARES and ArtWalk, you are still in luck.

“Our entire team was thrilled to see so much enthusiasm for ArtWalk on behalf of the artists, businesses, and community after two years away from the traditional event,”said Sydney Black, NDAC Executive Director.

“We are especially happy to see such a wide variety of artists and venues participating in the event, with art by both emerging and established artists hanging in businesses that have been around for decades as well as new businesses and venues that are just getting started. NDAC looks forward to celebrating the 35th anniversary of ArtWalk with everyone next year.”

ArtWalk is an annual tradition that has united businesses, artists, and community members for over three decades. The event populates unique venues with quality, locally produced artwork which draws traffic to local businesses and increases the visibility of Nelson and area artists.

The Nelson & District Arts Council looks forward to ArtWalk 2023 which will be the 35th annual celebration and promotion of all things art.
