Grocery shopping just got a little better after the Kootenay Co-op joins forces with Oxygen Art Centre on Tuesday, July 17 for a fundraiser.

The Co-op’s monthly Community Donation Day for July is assigned to Nelson’s Oxygen Art Centre, which means one per cent of all purchases are donated to the city’s artist-run centre.

Representatives of Oxygen Art Centre will be at Kootenay Co-op that day with information about Oxygen, including promoting this August’s Summer Art Camp for young people from age 5-13.

The Summer Art Camp runs Aug. 20 to 24, and 27 to 31.

More information on the Summer Art Camp is available at 250-352-6322,
or online at www.oxygenartcentre.org

Online registration is available.

The centre also hosts artist residencies, as well as a Presentation Series of public events including book launches, authors’ readings, artists’ talks, independent film showings and panel discussions on art and community development.

The Kootenay Co-op’s Community Donation Day is held the third Tuesday of each month.  Community non-profit groups are eligible.

The Community Donation Day is only one of a number of community support initiatives by the Kootenay Co-op, which include an environmental fund, a World Food Day partnership, discount for community dinners, and donations to local food banks and community kitchens.
